Club Rules

  1. The Rules must be read in conjunction with the Memorandum and Articles of Association.

  2. Each applicant for membership shall sign the application form as confirmation of having read and agreed with the Club Rules.

  3. The Directors shall determine the Rules for the use of the Club and courts and is empowered to make, repeal and amend these Rules which shall have effect until repealed by the Directors or a General Meeting.

  4. A copy of the Rules will be displayed in the Clubhouse at all times.

    MEMBERSHIP AND SUBSCRIPTIONS

  5. Members’ annual subscriptions shall be due at the beginning of the Club year on 1st April. If renewed subscriptions are unpaid by 31st May such members shall be deemed to have resigned. Late payments will incur a £25 penalty fee. New members joining after 1st May shall have their subscriptions adjusted pro rata for the first year.

  6. Directors shall have the right to ask any person on the Club premises or playing for any Club team for proof of membership which must be freely given.

  7. Membership is open to all.

  8. Categories of tennis membership are as follows:

    (age at 1st April current year)

    Adult over 18 and under 65

    Veteran over 65

    Young adult/Student Adult 18 and over and under 23

    Junior 5 and under 1

    Beginner under 5

    Family (A) 1 parent, 2 children under 18

    Family (B) 2 parents, 2 children under 18

    Non-playing Limited to 5 playing visits

    Kirklees Passport Holders or those receiving Working Tax Credit may be eligible for 10% reduction on above rates (on application to Subscription Secretary)

  9. Subscription rates for each category of membership shall be determined by the Directors, stated on the membership form and appended to the Rules on the Clubhouse noticeboard.

    VISITORS

  10. Members introducing guests to play tennis shall ensure that the correct Visitor’s Fee is paid and shall be responsible for their visitors. No members’ guests shall be allowed to play more than 5 times a year.

  11. Other non-members must book courts using Clubspark and pay relevant fees using this system.

  12. Details of fees to be paid and how to pay them will be displayed on the Club noticeboard and on the club website.

    ACCESS AND PARKING

  13. A speed limit of 10 m.p.h. along the entrance road and within the Club grounds must be observed.

  14. Members must park in the marked parking places, and respect the disabled parking positions and drop-off areas.

    COURT ETIQUETTE

  15. Suitable sports clothing and shoes with non-marking soles shall be worn on the indoor and outdoor courts at all times. No studded trainers are permitted on any court.

  16. In the interests of the safety of players, and good manners, members should not walk across the back of a court when play is in progress.

  17. No players should climb over or play on the court nets or fences between courts at any time.

    OUTDOOR COURTS

  18. To guarantee a court to play, members should book courts via Clubspark,

    Priority will be given to:

    a. Coaching requirements

    b. Between Apr and Aug - Monday and Tuesday evenings when ladies’ and men’s Huddersfield League matches are played (Mondays – 3 courts, Tuesday - all courts)

    c. Club events

  19. The Committee is empowered to make rulings on matters concerning Club play and court bookings.

  20. Floodlight tokens are available from Imogen Jones or Lesley Stead. Prices are listed in the Clubhouse and on the club website.

  21. Floodlights cannot be used after 10-00 p.m.

  22. Junior members can only use floodlit courts when a parent (non-playing member) or senior member is present.

    INDOOR COURT

    Winter Season: 1st October – 31st March

  23. At least 50% of a group must be Club members to enjoy members’ rates. Full details of rates can be obtained by request from the Indoor court booking secretary. A list of current rates will be displayed on the Club Noticeboards.

  24. Junior Coaching: Current rates and session times can be obtained from the We Do Tennis or the Club Coach.

  25. Any alterations to bookings or coaching sessions due to repairs or unforeseen circumstances will be notified to those concerned as soon as possible.

  26. Only non-spill bottled drinks may be taken into the Indoor Court. All food/drink waste must be taken off court and put in the bins provided in or by the Clubhouse.

    Summer Season: 1st April – 30th September

  27. During the summer season, priority will be given to the completion of matches and for coaching.

  28. Anyone wishing to book the Indoor Court for an occasional session should do so using Clubspark.

    CLUBHOUSE

  29. The Rules must comply with the requirements of the Licensing Acts.

  30. Members must be aware of the Fire and Emergency exits and the position of fire extinguishers and fire assembly points.

  31. Smoking or Vaping is not allowed anywhere onsite at the club.

  32. Dogs other than guide dogs are not allowed in the Clubhouse, Indoor Court or in any playing areas.

  33. Club facilities may be hired in part or in total for activities by members or non-members. Booking details and rates can be obtained from the indoor court booking secretary. The Club premises shall not be used for party political or sectarian religious purposes.

    JUNIORS

  34. No Junior members or visiting juniors shall be allowed to use the Clubhouse without a parent (non-playing member) or adult member being present.

  35. Juniors under 8 must always be accompanied by a responsible adult.

  36. Juniors 8 and over but under 16 must be accompanied by an adult, with the exception of when attending coaching.

    GENERAL

  37. Any damage to Club property, whether it be on the courts or in the Clubhouse, must be reported immediately to a club director.

  38. The Directors are empowered to modify or add to the Club Rules if deemed necessary for the day-to-day administration of the Club or for safety considerations. Such action shall be referred to the next Directors’ meeting.

  39. All suggestions or complaints should be reported to the Secretary, and will be discussed at the next Directors’ meeting.

  40. The Club shall not be responsible for any vehicles or articles brought on to the Club premises or grounds by any member or visitor.
